R enowned Afrobeat star Davido has unveiled his latest venture: an electric bike brand aimed at transforming transportation across Africa. In collaboration with Spiro, the continent’s leading electric vehicle provider, the initiative seeks to empower motorcyclists while promoting sustainable and eco-friendly mobility solutions.
Davido shared the exciting news on Instagram, reflecting on the journey that led to this milestone. He wrote, “Manifestation is spiritual. Years ago, I claimed 30 BG, but it wasn’t just about success – it was about purpose. Today, I’m transforming that vision into something bigger: generational wealth and ownership. With my own line of electric bikes, in partnership with Spiro, we’re not just building a product – we’re building a movement.”
The electric bike range is designed as a Made-in-Africa solution to address the continent’s unique transportation challenges. Davido emphasized the importance of creating homegrown innovations, stating, “This isn’t just about business – it’s about creating a Made-in-Africa solution for Africa. Streams might belong to foreign labels, but this is how you flip the script. This is how you turn influence into equity, and visibility into ownership.”
Africa’s motorcycle market is a vital part of its economy, with over 27 million bikes driving daily activities. Davido acknowledged the critical role of motorcycle riders, particularly Okada riders in Nigeria, who have supported his career from the beginning.
“These same Okada drivers, who have supported me throughout my career, are now at the heart of this vision. They moved my music, my name, and my story across every corner of Nigeria and Africa. Now it’s time to give back,” he said.
The initiative will also provide financing solutions for riders across Nigeria and Africa, empowering the hardworking individuals who form the backbone of the economy. Davido described the project as a way to uplift others, saying, “When I said we rise by lifting others, it wasn’t just a motto – it was the blueprint. This partnership is proof that when we create for our people, by our people, we build something that lasts.”
The electric bikes, designed to be both stylish and sustainable, are set to revolutionize African transport by offering a cleaner, greener alternative to traditional motorcycles. Davido teased the final reveal of the bikes, praising the design team for their groundbreaking work.
“And let’s not forget – these bikes are fly! Big shoutout to Tycoone and the Spiro team for the groundbreaking design. Can’t wait to reveal the final product. Oh yeah, I put my people on,” he added.
The electric bike brand is already operational in Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ghana, marking a significant step toward redefining Africa’s transportation landscape.
Davido concluded, “This is more than a deal; it’s a statement. It’s ownership, empowerment, and legacy in motion. Africa is not just catching up – we’re redefining what it means to lead. The future isn’t waiting for us – we’re driving straight into it.”
This groundbreaking initiative is set to empower millions while paving the way for a sustainable future in African transport.
