Real Madrid’s Vinícius Jr. offered over $1 billion to move to Saudi Arabia, per reports

A ccording to reports from Reuters and ESPN, Brazilian football star Vinícius Junior is contemplating a significant move following a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia. The deal, which includes a separate 10-year ambassadorial contract tied to the 2034 World Cup in Saudi Arabia, is under serious consideration by Vinícius and his team.

The 24-year-old forward, who joined Real Madrid from Flamengo in 2018, has emerged as a key player for Los Blancos. Last season, Vinícius scored 24 goals and provided 11 assists across 39 appearances, contributing to Real Madrid’s triumphs in the Champions League and La Liga. This marked his second and third victories in these prestigious competitions.

A move to Saudi Arabia would position Vinícius as one of the highest-profile soccer players in the country. Currently, the Saudi Pro League (SPL) features global stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Karim Benzema. If Vinícius accepts the offer, he would join the league at a notably younger age, with his prime years still ahead.

This decision comes in the wake of French striker Kylian Mbappé reportedly turning down a $775 million contract with Saudi club Al-Hilal last year. The SPL's founding teams—Al-Ahli, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal, and Al-Nassr—are primarily owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, reflecting the nation’s significant investment in global football talent.
