Wanted: Singer Portable on the Run After Alleged Assault on Ogun State Officials

I n a shocking development that has gripped Nigeria’s entertainment and legal spheres, the Ogun State Police Command has declared Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, wanted over an alleged violent assault on state officials. The controversial singer is accused of orchestrating an attack on government personnel carrying out their lawful duties.

According to a statement issued on Monday by police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the incident took place on February 5, 2025, around 10:00 AM at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota. Officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development—identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement operation at Odogwu Bar, a property linked to Portable, when the situation spiraled into violence.

A Routine Inspection Turns Violent

Upon arrival, the officials met Portable’s father and requested to inspect the building’s approved plans. They were informed that the singer was absent. However, within moments, the atmosphere turned hostile. Portable, allegedly armed and flanked by nine thugs, confronted the officials and launched a brutal attack. The officials, though injured, managed to flee and report the incident, prompting the case’s transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Evasion and Legal Consequences

While nine of Portable’s associates have since been arrested, the singer remains on the run, defying multiple police summons. His continued evasion has now led authorities to secure a court order officially declaring him wanted.

The Ogun State Police Command has urged the public to provide information on his whereabouts, warning that anyone found assisting him will face legal repercussions.

A Pattern of Legal Troubles

This is not Portable’s first brush with the law. Just recently, nine of his associates faced court charges over similar offenses. The accused, aged 19 to 28, were arraigned on charges ranging from felony and assault to illegal possession of weapons. Though they pleaded not guilty, Magistrate O.M. Somefun granted them bail set at N5 million each, with the next hearing scheduled for March 17, 2025.

Impact on Portable’s Business and Reputation

The fallout from these events has been swift. Reports indicate a sharp decline in patronage at Portable’s Odogwu Bar, as the singer’s legal troubles deepen. The once-bustling venue now stands eerily quiet, with locals speculating on his downward spiral, referring to his recent troubles as "witches on Portable’s road to madness."

What’s Next?

As authorities intensify efforts to track him down, this case underscores broader concerns about public safety, accountability, and law enforcement’s challenges in dealing with high-profile individuals in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.

For anyone with credible information regarding Portable’s location, the Ogun State Police Command encourages immediate contact via local police stations or official communication channels.
