P resident Donald Trump is set to sign an executive order on Wednesday directing federal agencies to identify and deport international students who violated laws during pro-Palestine demonstrations. The order, which also mandates a crackdown on antisemitic activities on college campuses, will require federal agencies to submit recommendations to the White House within 60 days on addressing antisemitism in the U.S.
In a document outlining the planned order, Trump warned, “To all the resident aliens who joined in the pro-jihadist protests, we put you on notice: come 2025, we will find you, and we will deport you.” He further stated, “I will also quickly cancel the student visas of all Hamas sympathizers on college campuses, which have been infested with radicalism like never before.”
The order is expected to focus on universities where antisemitic incidents have been reported, including cases of vandalism and intimidation. While no mass arrests have occurred at one prominent university, two graduate students are facing charges for their involvement in a protest-related altercation in late 2023. A university spokesperson declined to comment on how the order might impact students.
In addition to targeting antisemitism, the executive order will include a directive to cut funding for public schools that promote critical race theory and other divisive concepts in their curricula, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline C. Leavitt.
This move follows Trump’s recent proposal to halt federal funding for universities, which was temporarily blocked by a federal judge. The order also aligns with a December report by House Republicans urging stricter enforcement of Title VI antidiscrimination provisions to combat antisemitism on campuses.
The Trump administration has already rescinded guidance from the Department of Homeland Security that previously prevented immigration raids on college campuses.
