T roops of the Nigerian Army have successfully apprehended a notorious gun-runner and intercepted a truck transporting illegally refined Automated Gas Oil (AGO). Additionally, they rescued kidnapped victims during operations in various states.
In Kaduna State, the Army, in collaboration with other security agencies, arrested Mallam Hashimu Ahmad, a gun-runner on the wanted list for supplying arms to terrorists. Ahmad was captured in Saminaka, Lere Local Government Area, while transporting a cache of sophisticated weapons, including a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG), a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) Launcher, one RPG Bomb, 1,069 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, and one belt of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition. The arms and the vehicle used for their transportation have been fully recovered.
In Sokoto State, troops on patrol in Matalawa village, Isa Local Government Area, responded to a distress call about kidnapped victims taken into the forest. The troops engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel and successfully rescued the hostages, who have since been reunited with their families.
In Delta State, acting on credible intelligence, troops intercepted a tanker truck at Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, containing 15,000 litres of substance suspected to be illegally refined AGO. The two suspects transporting the illegal product have been taken into custody for preliminary investigation, with plans to hand them over to the appropriate prosecuting agency.
The Nigerian Army continues to intensify its operations against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, and other criminal activities, reaffirming its commitment to protecting the nation and dismantling criminal networks that threaten national security.
