"Nigeria Is Not Lagos!" Dele Momodu Slams Tinubu's Wasteful Spending and Bad Governance

D ele Momodu, the renowned publisher of Ovation International and respected elder statesman, has voiced his concerns about the state of governance in Nigeria, particularly under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a recent interview with Arise News, Momodu did not hold back in his critique, highlighting what he sees as significant flaws in the current government’s approach.

"We can all agree that there is bad governance in Nigeria," Momodu began, pointing to the widespread dissatisfaction among the populace. He expressed deep concern over what he perceives as the government's wasteful spending habits, particularly in distributing handouts to a select few rather than addressing the root causes of the nation's economic challenges. According to him, the focus should be on finding a permanent solution rather than temporary fixes.

Momodu also criticized President Tinubu's tendency to appoint friends and family to key positions, emphasizing that such actions are detrimental to the nation's progress. "Nigeria is not Lagos," he stressed, urging the President to recognize the broader national interest over personal or regional affiliations.

Further, Momodu shed light on the environment within the President's circle, describing it as rife with sycophancy. "Even people around the President know the country has never been this bad economically, but they will never tell him to his face," he said. He accused these individuals of prioritizing their personal gains over the public good, cautioning that such behavior only exacerbates the country's woes.

As a close associate of President Tinubu, Momodu asserted his responsibility to speak the truth. He urged the President to take immediate steps to cut wasteful spending and focus on the nation's urgent economic needs. "The major thing President Tinubu should be doing is cutting waste," Momodu advised, calling for decisive action to curb unnecessary expenditures.

Momodu's candid remarks serve as a stark reminder of the challenges facing Nigeria and the urgent need for genuine leadership committed to the welfare of all citizens.
