Iran expected to push off attacking Israel if Gaza ceasefire deal clinched

U S President Joe Biden has expressed hope that an anticipated Iranian attack on Israel could be averted if a ceasefire deal is reached between Israel and Hamas. Biden's comments came following Iranian statements suggesting that a retaliatory strike might be delayed to allow for ongoing negotiations. Talks are set to resume later this week in either Egypt or Qatar, with the aim of securing a ceasefire and releasing hostages held by Hamas.

Despite this, Biden acknowledged that achieving a ceasefire is becoming increasingly difficult but remains committed to ending hostilities. US State Department spokesperson Vedant Patel confirmed efforts to ensure Hamas's participation in the talks, despite the group's reluctance unless Israel agrees to certain proposals.

Israeli officials are preparing for potential negotiations but have expressed concerns about the current framework and demands. Meanwhile, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Israel is closely monitoring regional developments and preparing for various scenarios.
