B eauty pageant contestant Chidimma Vanessa Adetshina has announced her participation in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. This decision comes after her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant due to xenophobic harassment she encountered online.
In a video shared on the Africa Facts Zone X handle on Wednesday, Chidimma expressed her gratitude to her supporters and revealed her excitement about the new opportunity. She thanked those who stood by her during the difficult period and conveyed her enthusiasm for joining Miss Universe Nigeria.
“I cannot speak on video without first expressing my gratitude to the incredible people who have shown me so much love and support,” Chidimma said. “I have received an invitation from the Silverbird Group, the organizers of Miss Universe Nigeria, and I am thrilled to announce my participation in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant.”
Chidimma acknowledged the responsibilities that come with the title and expressed her eagerness to embark on this new journey. She emphasized her anticipation for competing in Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant and thanked the organizers for the opportunity.
Her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant was a result of the xenophobic attacks she faced, prompting her decision to seek new opportunities closer to home.
