M ainz sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that Brighton & Hove Albion's pursuit of Germany U21 winger Brajan Gruda is nearing completion. In a statement to Sky Germany, Heidel acknowledged that negotiations are progressing well but noted that some details still need to be ironed out.
"I can only say that the negotiations are very far advanced," Heidel stated. "There are still a few things to clarify. We're talking a lot. When it comes to putting it on paper, it can sometimes be a bit more difficult."
Heidel emphasized that while Mainz is not under pressure to sell the player, they are willing to finalize the deal once their expectations are met. "We don't have to sell the player. We will sell him when our expectations are met. We're very close to that," he added.
Brighton is expected to pay around £25 million for the highly-rated winger, who has impressed with his performances for Germany's U21 team.
