Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has taken legal action against Sophia Momodu, the mother of their daughter, Aurora Imade Adeleke. The case, filed at the Lagos State High Court under suit number LD/1587PMC/2024 on April 17, 2024, lists Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke as the applicant and Ms. Sophia Momodu as the sole respondent.
In the suit, Davido is seeking joint custody of Imade, along with an order that grants him unfettered and unrestricted access to his daughter. Despite the end of his romantic relationship with Momodu several years ago, Davido asserts that he has consistently met all financial obligations concerning Imade’s well-being. This includes covering all school fees and providing money for the rent of the apartment where Momodu and Imade reside.
Davido accuses Momodu of making unreasonable demands aimed at frustrating his efforts. He specifically cites her rejection of his offer of a N200 million apartment in a secure condominium complex in Oniru, Victoria Island, Lagos, which features amenities such as a swimming pool and 24-hour power and water supply. Instead, Momodu allegedly insisted that Davido continue paying N5,000,000 annually for a rented accommodation.
The high-profile custody battle has garnered significant public attention, with many weighing in on the implications for both parties involved. Davido, known for his successful music career and prominent public presence, argues that he is in a better position to ensure the well-being of their daughter.
