Indonesia to Offer Temporary Shelter for Wounded Palestinians from Gaza

 By Agboola Aluko, GLiDE NEWS

I ndonesian President Prabowo Subianto has announced that Indonesia is prepared to offer temporary refuge to Palestinians affected by the ongoing conflict in Gaza, with a particular focus on evacuating the wounded and orphaned children.

Addressing the humanitarian fallout from the renewed Israeli military campaign, President Prabowo stated on Wednesday that Indonesia would deploy aircraft to evacuate at least 1,000 people in the initial phase.

“We are ready to receive wounded victims,” the President declared, adding that this initiative would prioritise those in urgent need of medical attention and children left without guardians.

The President clarified that the measure is a temporary humanitarian gesture, and the evacuees would return to Gaza once the security situation improves.

Indonesia has tasked its Foreign Ministry with coordinating directly with Palestinian authorities and regional partners to organise the evacuations. The operation is expected to involve complex logistical efforts, including medical treatment and temporary housing arrangements.

With the world’s largest Muslim population, Indonesia has long supported the Palestinian cause and consistently advocates for a peaceful two-state solution. President Prabowo is also slated to address the Turkish Parliament during his upcoming Middle East tour, underscoring Jakarta’s strong diplomatic ties with Ankara and shared solidarity on the Palestinian issue.

The move positions Indonesia among the few countries offering practical humanitarian assistance amidst the deepening crisis in Gaza.
