Sweden in Mourning After Deadliest Mass Shooting – Gunman’s Background Revealed

Sweden's King Carl XVI Gustaf told the BBC: "All Swedes are thinking of those people who lost their loved ones"

Sweden is reeling from its deadliest mass shooting as authorities investigate the tragic attack at an adult education center in Örebro. Reports have identified the gunman as 35-year-old Rickard Andersson, a former student of the school.

Rickard Andersson, 35, was named by Swedish media as the suspect

The attack claimed 11 lives, including the shooter, and left at least six others injured. While officials have yet to confirm the suspect’s identity, local media report that Andersson legally obtained his weapon, believed to be a hunting rifle or an automatic firearm.

Authorities have ruled out terrorism or gang-related motives but continue to search for answers. Police suggest the attacker may have taken his own life after an exchange of gunfire.

Swedish King Carl XVI Gustaf expressed the nation's grief, saying, “All of Sweden is mourning.” Flags across the country have been lowered to half-mast, while candlelit vigils honor the victims.

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson called the tragedy “a dark day in Swedish history,” vowing to support the survivors and their families through the difficult days ahead.
