JUST IN: APC Expels Former Minister Rauf Aregbesola Over Anti-Party Activities

T he All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled former Minister of Interior and ex-Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, citing alleged anti-party activities.

Aregbesola, who governed Osun State for two terms, had led a faction within the APC called The Osun Progressives (TOP), later renamed the Omoluabi Caucus. His expulsion follows growing tensions between his group and the party leadership.

A letter from the APC leadership, officially confirming his expulsion, accused Aregbesola of violating Article 21 of the party’s constitution, which outlines disciplinary measures for members.

The letter stated:
"At the end of the investigation, the State Executive Committee (SEC) considered the report of the Disciplinary Committee. Having carefully reviewed the findings and recommendations, the SEC resolved to approve your immediate expulsion from the APC."

It further noted that his actions had undermined the unity and integrity of the party.

Aregbesola’s expulsion came after a Sunday meeting of the Omoluabi Caucus, where the group announced its decision to exit the APC, citing the party’s declining influence in Osun.

With this development, Aregbesola’s political future remains uncertain, as speculation grows over his next move.
