Barcelona Break LaLiga Winless Streak With Dominant 7-1 Victory Over Valencia

B arcelona ended their four-match winless streak in LaLiga with a commanding 7-1 victory over Valencia on Sunday, with Fermin Lopez playing a key role, scoring twice and providing two assists.

The win keeps Barcelona in third place in the standings with 42 points, three points behind second-placed Atletico Madrid and seven behind leaders Real Madrid. Valencia, struggling against relegation, remain in 19th place with 16 points after suffering their first defeat in five games across all competitions.

Frenkie de Jong opened the scoring just three minutes in, finding the bottom left corner with a well-placed shot after receiving a precise cross from Lamine Yamal. De Jong continued his influential performance by assisting in Barcelona’s second goal, setting up Alejandro Balde, who then laid the ball off to Ferran Torres for the finish.

Raphinha extended Barcelona’s lead before the 15th minute, capitalizing on a positioning error from Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, who was caught off-guard. The Brazilian calmly slotted the ball into the empty net.

Lopez then took over, scoring Barcelona’s fourth in the 24th minute with a clinical finish and adding a stunning long-range strike for their fifth before halftime.

"We were coming off a poor run in LaLiga and needed this win," Lopez told DAZN. "Personally, I needed a game like this after dealing with injuries. It was important to regain confidence."

Valencia pulled one back early in the second half through Hugo Duro, who scored from close range. However, Barcelona quickly regained control of the game.

Substitute Robert Lewandowski netted the sixth goal, and an own goal by Cesar Tarrega completed the rout for Barcelona under Hansi Flick’s leadership.

The victory comes on the heels of Barcelona’s thrilling 5-4 win over Benfica, securing their place in the Champions League’s last 16. They will face Atalanta in their final group-stage match on Wednesday.
