F ormer Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has revealed that he and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba are actively involved in convincing Victor Osimhen to consider a move to Chelsea from Napoli. Osimhen, who currently has a €130 million release clause in his contract with Napoli, is widely expected to leave the Italian club this summer.
Reports suggest that Chelsea has shown interest in the 25-year-old Nigerian striker, with a potential deal involving Romelu Lukaku moving to Napoli. Mikel Obi, speaking on the potential transfer, emphasized Osimhen’s goal-scoring prowess and how it would greatly benefit Chelsea.
"Victor possesses the qualities of a prolific goal scorer, similar to Erling Haaland," Mikel Obi noted. He expressed confidence that Osimhen’s abilities would bring much-needed firepower to the Chelsea squad.
In addition to Mikel Obi’s efforts, Didier Drogba has also been engaging with Osimhen, sharing his perspective on the significance of joining Chelsea. Mikel Obi highlighted Drogba's involvement, saying, “Didier is also speaking to him, sharing his ideas and what the club means to us. We all want to see Victor come to the club.”
